Inova Health System Selects ForHealth’s IntelliFill i.v. to Automate IV Preparation and Enhance Patient Safety

Washington D.C. Area Institution Cites IntelliFill’s Quality Features and USP 797 Compliance

December 15, 2006 – ForHealth Technologies Inc., makers of IntelliFill i.v.™, a high-speed robotic system for the preparation of IV medications in syringes, announced today that Inova Health System has purchased its pharmacy robotic technology to automate much of its small volume i.v. medication preparation. Inova Health System will implement the IntelliFill i.v. system at its Inova Fairfax Hospital campus in Falls Church, Virginia. The campus comprises three facilities serving 833 beds: Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, and The Inova Heart and Vascular Institute.

The IntelliFill i.v. system automates the compounding and labeling of intravenous medication doses in syringes with a combination of accuracy, reliability and speed often not possible using manual processes. The system employs barcode scanning, vision systems and weight confirmation steps, and delivers patient-labeled, barcoded syringes prepared in an ISO Class 4 environment. As a result, IntelliFill i.v. diminishes risks of touch contamination during preparation, lowers drug budget costs and reduces the likelihood of medication errors.
